Is Divinum Worth It? Launch-Week Verdict
Too early for a score. Divinum shipped on August 28, 2026 after ten years of largely solo development, and there is no Metacritic entry or aggregate critic score. Creator coverage does exist — a Metroidvania-focused review played on Steam Deck with a key provided by Sigil Games, and a before-you-buy breakdown walking the combat, combo system, runes and Fury gauge — but that is a handful of voices, not a consensus. What can be checked today is what the game contains and what the developer has committed to next.
Pros
- ✅ Combat depth is the headline system: two primary weapons, aerial juggles, dodges, blocks and parries, with achievements that ask for 555-hit combos and no-damage boss clears
- ✅ A complete, well-paced campaign spine — 8 bosses from Klyssa The Deathspeaker to Executor Faust, plus 9 optional runestone trials and the Crucible for players who want the ceiling
- ✅ Runes are build-defining rather than stat padding — the store page explicitly rejects +5% damage filler, and the achievement list confirms elemental, darkness, defensive, skill-focused and cooldown-focused rune sets
- ✅ A free demo lets you test the combat before buying, and the developer answers technical questions directly on the discussion board
- ✅ Small install and low requirements: 1 GB of storage and a GTX 560 Ti floor, with a native Mac build — and at least one reviewer played it through on Steam Deck
Cons
- ❌ No controller vibration at launch — the developer confirmed it is not implemented yet
- ❌ Mouse cursor is not supported for menu navigation, only rebindable mouse buttons
- ❌ Players on the discussion board have raised sparse music outside specific zones, and the demo's wave-heavy combat slice is not representative of the full game's pacing
- ❌ No console version announced despite the official site describing the game as being for PC and consoles
- ❌ No Steam Deck compatibility rating on the store page yet, verified or otherwise
