Divinum Walkthrough: Route, Progression and Getting Unstuck
The Shape of the Game
Divinum is a 2D metroidvania. The store page describes exploring the island above and below the surface — forgotten caves, ominous forests, gloomy catacombs and sacred ruins — while fighting hordes of monsters, finding well-hidden secrets and harnessing ancestral legacy.
Two structural consequences follow, and they define how a walkthrough for this game has to work:
- Progress is gated by abilities, not by level. There is no XP grind that opens the next door. Warden Legacy (unlock a new core ability) and Radiant (unlock Radiant Dash) are the gates.
- Backtracking is the design, not a chore. Areas you could not fully clear on the first pass are meant to be revisited once you have the traversal tool that was missing.
There is even a hidden achievement called Sequence Breaker — standard metroidvania vocabulary for reaching something out of intended order, which tells you the map has more than one valid path through it.
The Progression Spine
Ordered by the achievement structure rather than by guesswork, here is the sequence of systems opening up:
| Stage | What opens | Marker |
|---|---|---|
| Prologue | Story setup as Fjor, born under the Fate of the Guardian | — |
| Early | Core abilities begin; HP and Mana capacity start rising | Warden Legacy, Warden Blood, Warden Spirit |
| Early-mid | Rune system opens with your first slot | An Extra Edge |
| Mid | Radiant Dash — the traversal ability that reshapes the map | Radiant |
| Mid | Fury unlocks as a combat resource | Furious |
| Late | All rune slots, all Masteries, every Skill | Word of Power, Trained to Perfection, Arcane Potential |
| Late | The Crucible and the second Fury slot | Unstoppable |
| End | Finish the game | Divinum |
Note the ordering fact that matters most: the Crucible sits after the build systems are complete, not before. If you have found it and it feels impossible, it probably is — for now.
When You Are Stuck
Work down this list in order. It is built from how the game’s own systems gate access:
- Check the map. The demo update added a separate map button (default Tab on keyboard, Select on controller). If you are lost, the map exists and it is one key away.
- Ask which ability you are missing. Blocked routes in a metroidvania are ability puzzles. Radiant Dash is the named traversal unlock — if you do not have it yet, that is very often the answer. See skills and abilities.
- Go back to a room that felt unfinished. If you remember a ledge you could not reach or a gap you could not cross, that memory is the game working as designed.
- Look for breakables. Treasure Hunter asks you to break 100 Sanctite deposits — destructible scenery is everywhere, and secrets are one of the three named rune sources.
- Skip the trials. The developer has confirmed the nine runestone trials are optional challenges. A trial you cannot beat is not blocking your progress. See trials.
- Improve the build, not the execution. A stuck fight is usually a rune problem. 25 runes, five confirmed set themes — rune guide.
What the Demo Does Not Show You
Worth knowing before you set expectations from the demo: the developer has stated that the demo build primarily demonstrates combat and buildcrafting, and that the full game has a lot more actual exploration and platforming content. If the demo felt like wave after wave of enemies, that is a property of the demo slice, not of the full route. Details on the demo page.
Completion Order That Actually Works
- Main route first, taking Sanctite deposits and easy shards as you pass them.
- Second pass for collectibles once traversal is complete — 19 Manastone shards and 12 Life Orb shards, listed on the collectibles guide.
- Trials and gauntlets for runes and the skill achievements.
- The Crucible for the second Fury slot.
- Combat cleanup — the 555 combo and 250 mid-air kills are far easier with a finished build. See combat.
Walkthrough FAQ
Is Divinum open world? No — it is a metroidvania island map, above and below ground, gated by abilities.
How do I open the map in Divinum? Tab on keyboard, Select on controller, per the update that introduced the dedicated map button.
Do I have to do the trials to finish the game? No. The developer has called them optional challenges.
Is there more than one ending? No official statement either way, and no verified community answer yet. This page will say so when there is a source, rather than guessing.
